*WE'RE STILL IN THE HOSPITAL, JUST WAITING TO GET THINGS 'IN ORDER'*
I just wanted to update everyone real quick. Ava is still in the hospital, we are just waiting for her home ventilator system to come in and then we have to be trained on it. Phew! Ava is doing well though, but it is so hard sometimes not having her here at home! Just to recap, she had her trach put in on August 19th (I believe) and they typically keep kids for about 2 weeks post surgery even under the best of conditions. Ava's discharge has been delayed somewhat because the medical supply company has a back order on home ventilators. Before Ava can go home, Kenny and I both have to complete training on tracheostomy care including; caring for the trach site, how to put the trach back in in the event of an emergency and so on and so forth. We have completed all of our tracheostomy training, including how to put the trach back in should it come out. We did this on a baby doll, but the hospital has informed us that we must replace the trach tube on Ava at least one time before going home. Yay! Fun times! The staff there really has become like a second family to us and really are involved in our personal lives as much as professional. Truly an amazing hospital! I have decided one of the ways I want to 'Pay it forward' is one day volunteering as a 'Parent Mentor.'
We are currently awaiting her home ventilator, which should arrive middle of next week. At that time we can start training with one of the respiratory therapists at the hospital.
**Praise Report** We heard from our Medicaid Waiver rep that Ava's been bumped up to 16 hrs a day of nursing hours. This is a HUGE blessing in itself. It will allow some freedom for me to maybe pick up some additional work to contribute to the family's finances.
UPDATE ON OUR SITUATION
On a different note, an update on our moving situation... We have 'feelers' out on several places but nothing has materialized as of yet. If any of you could keep an eye out, these are our needs.
Location: Delaware County, preferably in or around the City of Delaware or the Sunbury/Galena area.
Budget: Under $1200 a month
Type of House: Preferably a house (no apartment or condo) w/3 bedrooms that will allow 2 kitties and 2 dogs. We will also do a lease purchase if the right place comes along
If anyone has any suggestions, or wants to contact me about a house, etc, please see contact info below:
